HAVELOCK, N.C. – The City of Havelock has reported its fifth sewage spill of the year, this time releasing approximately 3,000 gallons into Joe’s Branch from a Main Street manhole.
The latest incident follows a series of significant spills in 2024. In January, two separate spills released a combined total of over half a million gallons of sewage. A particularly large event in March discharged 585,000 gallons from the wastewater treatment plant, with 250,000 gallons contaminating a nearby marsh.
City officials have issued a public notice regarding the most recent spill.
