Rocky Mount sees explosive business growth with new construction

1 min read

This week, workers were preparing the site of a planned Wawa convenience store along Benvenue Road between Jeffreys and Goldrock roads in the northwest region of Rocky Mount using dirt-hauling trucks and a bulldozer.

The construction was taking place as site proposals for a second Wawa at N.C. Wesleyan University on the northern edge of the city are still being reviewed by a city development review committee.

The committee is also considering plans for a Home2 Suites by Hilton to be built on the northwest side of the Winstead Avenue/U.S. 64 intersection in the northwest to western region of the city.

A site proposal for a future Murphy Express gas station position along North Wesleyan Boulevard and close to the entrance to the Sutters Creek Plaza shopping area in the northern section of the city has already been authorized by the committee.
