NEW BERN, N.C. – Three individuals have been apprehended and charged in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Domonique Brown in New Bern.
Brown’s remains were discovered on June 24th on Liberty Street. Authorities have identified the suspects as 20-year-old Gerrius Tyrique Hargett, 19-year-old Neveah Xiaoyu Hackney, and a juvenile.
Both Hargett and Hackney were residing in New Bern at the time of the homicide. According to law enforcement, the pair absconded from the area during the investigation. Their apprehension was achieved on Wednesday by Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop.
Hargett and Hackney face murder charges and are being held without bond. The 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with being an accessory to murder and is currently detained at the Pitt Regional Juvenile Center.
